The story behind this remarkable product dates back over 140 years, when Dr. Thomas M. Sayman, one of the last of the old-time medicine men, embarked on a journey of discovery.

As a young man, Dr. Sayman ran away from home at the age of nine and joined the P.T. Barnum Circus. At the age of 18, he entered a medical college and studied for four years. During his teenage years, he worked with medicine shows and grew curious about the products that were sold. This curiosity led him to make a study of such things, and ultimately, the T. M. Sayman Products Company was born.

During his travels around the country, Dr. Sayman discovered the virtues of certain Indian herbs. After two years of research and trial and error, he learned how to make an effective extract, which he then combined with other materials to produce the Dr. Sayman Healing Salve.
